Légende
'St. Andrew', mid-late 19th century. Saint Andrew carrying his cross. Andrew was said to have been martyred by crucifixion on an X-shaped cross, (or 'saltire', commonly known as a Saint Andrew's Cross). This was supposedly done at his own request, as he felt himself unworthy to be crucified on the same type of cross as Jesus.
