'And on the third day was Pharaoh's birth day...', late 17th-early 18th century. '...that he made a Feast unto all his Servants; his Butler he restored into favour, but he hanged the chief Baker'. Illustration to the Book of Genesis: the chief cup-bearer (here 'Butler'), and chief baker, who had offended the Pharaoh, were thrown into the prison. Joseph predicted that the cup-bearer would be reinstated, but the baker would be hanged.
