'Sir Christopher Wren', (mid 18th century). Portrait of Sir Christopher Wren, English architect, designer, astronomer and geometrician (1632-1723). Wren is best remembered for his rebuilding of St Paul's Cathedral, destroyed in the Great Fire of London (1666). He is shown holding drawing instruments and plans of the building, with in image of it below. Among his other works are the Custom House, Temple Bar, Chelsea Hospital, Greenwich Hospital, Royal Observatory Greenwich and the Ashmolean Museum at Oxford.
