'Last Moments of the Czar', (c1857). The death of Tsar Nicholas I of Russia (1796-1855), who died on 2 March 1855 at the Winter Palace in St Petersburg. The Tsar refused medical treatment after catching a chill, and died of pneumonia, although there were rumors he had committed suicide. [Virtue & Co., London, c1857]
