Smeaton's Tower near Plymouth in Devon.
Légende
Smeaton's Tower near Plymouth in Devon. Completed in 1759 by John Smeaton, the Tower was the fourth Eddystone Lighthouse. Its interlocking granite block construction proved far more durable than its predecessors, and it was only when the rock beneath the tower began to crack that the decision was taken to replace it. It served for 123 years before being dismantled and rebuilt on Plymouth Hoe.
