The opening of the Masonic Peace Memorial, Great Queen Street, London, 19 July 1933, (1935). 'The Masonic Temple...was opened by the Duke of Connaught, Grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of England'. The building was designed as a memorial to the 3,225 Freemasons who died on active service in World War I. Initially known as the Masonic Peace Memorial, the name was changed to Freemasons' Hall at the start of World War II in 1939.
