'Cologne Cathedral, from the East', 1890. Construction began in 1248 and was halted in 1473, unfinished. Work began again in 1840s, and the edifice was completed to its original Medieval plan in 1880. From "Cassell's Illustrated Universal History, Vol. III - The Middle Ages", by Edmund Ollier.
