Grigori Rasputin, 1910, (c1920). 'Gregory Rasputin, the Evil Genius of the Russian Court'. Portrait of Russian monk Rasputin (1869-1916) who exercised considerable influence over Tsar Nicholas II and particularly the Tsarina Alexandra, partly due to their belief in his ability to heal their son's haemophilia. This influence was widely unpopular, and he was murdered by Prince Felix Yusupov and Grand Duke Dmitri Romanov in 1916. It took several attempts before he finally died. From "The Great World War: A History", Volume VII, edited by Frank A Mumby. [The Gresham Publishing Company Ltd, London, c1920]
