'New-York Bay', 1874. Shipping in Lower New York Bay at the mouth of the Hudson River where it joins the Atlantic Ocean, New York, USA. 'We sail up the broad expanse of water known as the Lower Bay, nearing the famous Narrows, a comparatively contracted channel, formed by the projection of Long Island on one side and Staten Island on the other'. On the right are the Battery and the Castle Garden.
