'I am not mad, most noble Festus', 19th century. Biblical scene, from Acts 26: 25: 'But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness.' St Paul on trial before Antonius Felix, governor of Caesarea. Paul (right, with arms raised and in chains), appeals to Felix. Engraving after 'Paul before Felix', also called 'Paul at Ephesus', a painting made c1748 by William Hogarth, in Lincoln's Inn, London.
