'Trafalgar Square's traffic lights, inaugurated by the Mayor of Westminster in March', 1933, are somewhat more elaborate than those elsewhere "Round-about" traffic had long been established there, but the success of automatic control - both for pedestrians and vehicles - has proved so successful that the authorities put up twenty-one standards at this point to direct the great "round-about".'
