Young men in traditional costume, Burgenland, Austria, c1935. Men from the state of Burgenland in caps and waistcosts, wearing the Firta over knee-high boots. The Firta is a kind of apron or cloth worn around the waist by the men, one corner of which is tucked into the waistband at the hip, on the right-hand side for single men and the left for married men. From "Österreich - Land Und Volk", (Austria, Land and People). [R. Lechner (Wilhelm Müller), Vienna, c1935]
