Légende
Chateau Montesquieu, c. 1900. Frederick H. Evans is recognized as the foremost architectural photographer of his day. A vocal defender of "straight" or unmanipulated photography, Evans was obsessed with technical and aesthetic perfection and never touched up his negatives or prints. His use of the platinum print process enabled him to render fine, accurate detail and an exquisite range of tones. Chateau Montesquieu depicts one of many great buildings the artist documented in France.
