Female Figure, Probably a Nature Divinity (Yakshi), c. 75 BC. Pilgrims and devotees who make offerings and worship at sacred sites bring small terracotta images to set up in domestic shrines. This idealized female figure is draped in flowers and jewels. Garlands cascade from her hair, and large plug earrings with floral motifs further associate her with the wealth and beauty of nature and its ability to create life in abundance.
