Herschel, a renowned British mathematician, scientist, and innovator in photographic chemistry, was not just Cameron?s friend; she regarded him as "a Teacher and High Priest." She wrote that when such great men posed for her, her "whole soul has endeavored to do its duty towards them in recording faithfully the greatness of the inner [being] as well as the features of the outer man."
