The Expulsion from Paradise, c. 1606. Originally this exquisite sheet belonged to a series of 21 drawings illustrating the creation and early history of man as recounted in Genesis. Today, 16 are known to have survived. Jewellike in its preciousness and minute detail, this drawing describes Eden as a virtual microcosm populated by a dizzying array of plants and animals.
