'Henry Brougham, 1st Baron Brougham and Vaux', 1825, (1944). Portrait of Scottish lawyer and politician Henry Brougham (1778-1868) who defended Queen Caroline at her trial in 1820. He worked for the establishment of London University and the first Mechanic's Institute, and the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge which published The Penny Magazine.
