The Waverley Ball, 1844. Costume ball held at Willis's Rooms, King St, St James's, London: '...The object of this truly superb ball, was to raise a fund in aid of the general subscription for completing the beautiful Gothic monument in course of erection in the city of Edinburgh, to the memory of Sir Walter Scott'.
