Greaves, of Maori warrior Te Rangihaeata, a chief of the Ngati Toa tribe and nephew of Te Rauparaha, 'the two chiefs who took the most prominent part in the late Massacre at Wairau...Upwards of a year ago, Rangihaeata attacked some settlers who rented land near Porirua, destroyed their houses, and drove them off'.
