Ancient Palace of the Savoy, 1844. View of Savoy Palace on the River Thames in London. 'The founder of the Savoy was Peter de Savoy. This Peter, coming over to England on a visit to his niece, was created Earl of Savoy and Richmond...The date of 1245 is ascribed to the original erection'.
