His Majesty the King of Holland, drawn by Baugniet, 1845. Portrait of William II of the Netherlands. 'As Prince of Orange he served in the Peninsula from 1811 to the end of that war in 1814, the principal part of which period as extra Aide-de-Camp to the Duke of Wellington, and was present at the sieges of Ciudad Rodrigo and Badajoz, and battles of Salamanca, Yittoria, Pyrenees, and Nivelle, for which his Majesty has received a cross and two clasps. Commanded the Dutch troops in the campaign of 1815, and the first corps d'armee of the Duke of Wellington's forces at the battle of Waterloo, and was shot through the left shoulder at the close of that action, having also been present in the preceding engagements'.
