Légende
Mr. Pilcher, 1845. Portrait of Jeremiah Pilcher, candidate for the London borough of Southwark. 'Mr. Pilcher, the second candidate, made a gallant fight of it, and the number he polled is a flattering testimony both to the esteem in which he is held, and the zeal of his friends. He was proposed as the "local" candidate, a resident in the borough, and acquainted with its interests. In principles, he is a moderate Conservative, a supporter of the Church, and an opponent of the Maynooth Grant. He has served the office of Sheriff'. The election was won by William Molesworth.
