'Leadenhall Market, the great place for poultry, game, and rabbits; the returns for which, in one year, equal half a million of money...It is related that Don Pedro de Ronquillo once said to Charles II., that he believed there to be more meat sold in Leadenhall Market alone in one week, than in all the kingdom of Spain in a year'.
