Burl bowl, 1750-1850. Creator: Unknown.
Légende
A large wooden bowl with an uneven shape and a rounded bottom. The lip is decorated with incised Adinkra symbols (symbols from Ghana that represent concepts or aphorisms). Formed metal pieces were nailed over 2 separate cracks, acting as "patches." There is surface wear throughout, particularly on the bottom and around the lip.
