This document is from a collection of financial papers related to the plantation operations of several generations of the Rouzee Family in Essex County, Virginia. The papers date from the 1790s through 1860. This document is a bond for the debt of ten pounds due to Susanna Faver from Edward Rouzee for the hire of an enslaved man named Jacob. The document is dated October 28, 1808. In the bottom left is the signature of the witness Elizabeth M. Rouzee. There is a loss to the document at the bottom right where the signature of Edward Rouzee would be. On the reverse are notes concerning payment and the label "Rouzee to Faver Bond." The document is handwritten in black ink and the paper has been folded multiple times.
