London Central Mosque and The Islamic Cultural Centre, Park Road, Regent's Park, City of Westminster, Greater London Authority, 24/09/1975. The site team at the London Central Mosque stood in front of the minaret on the penultimate day of the slipforming operation. The minaret of the London Central Mosque was constructed using a slipforming technique, in which concrete is poured into a continuously moving form. The form is raised at a rate that allows the concrete to harden and emerge from the form maintaining its shape. The minaret was formed in two concentric cylinders, with a lift located in the central area and a spiral staircase between the two walls. The concrete for the 43 metre high minaret was poured in 10 days from the 15th - 25th September 1975. The site team worked in 12-hour long day and night shifts, six days a week, to achieve this.
