Dr. Max Munk, chief of aerodynamics, in his office at Langley, Virginia, USA, 1926. German aerospace engineer Max M. Munk (1890-1986) achieved lasting fame by conceiving, developing, and placing into operation the Langley Variable Density Tunnel. Munk worked for the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) in the 1920s and made contributions to the design of airfoils.
