Strand, City of Westminster, Greater London Authority, 1901. Looking north-east along the Strand, past St Mary-le-Strand Church, towards Holywell Street, with the entrance to Drury Court on the left. Photographed as part of a series recording the Holborn and Strand improvement works. The buildings on the left of this photograph, and Holywell Street and surrounds, were demolished shortly after the photograph was taken to make way for the Aldwych development. A handwritten note accompanying the photograph reads: "Looking towards Holywell St (Booksellers' Row) from the west showing Mooney's Irish House and the entrance to Drury Court".
