George Hotel, High Street, City of Portsmouth, 1930s. The front of the George Hotel seen from the north-east with a man walking past the entrance. The George Hotel was the site at which Horatio Nelson spent his last hours before leaving for the battle of Trafalgar. The building was destroyed in an air raid in January 1941 and the site is now occupied by a block of flats named George Court.
