Carlisle, Cumbria, 19/06/1954. A group of spectators at a Laing sports day in Carlisle, showing a man holding a box as a woman adds or removes an item from it, possibly for a raffle. On 19th June 1954 an annual sports day was held at the Sports Club in Carlisle. Activities commenced between 2pm and 11pm, including a programme of track and field events, side-shows, a buffet tea, a film show and dancing in the marquee.
