Gorleston-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, 09/06/1956. A man with two girls in a horse-drawn cart on the promenade at Gorleston-on-Sea, during a day trip to Great Yarmouth for Laing staff and families. In 1947, after a seven year break, Laing had resurrected their 'Area Outings' for staff and their families, with trips taking place in May and June. Twelve outings were arranged to take place in the early summer of 1956. This outing was for Laing employees from the eastern counties of England, including Kings Lynn, Thurleigh, Welwyn, Hatfield, Stanstead, Waltham Abbey, Chelmsford, Stevenage, and Harlow. A similar photograph was published in the July 1956 edition of 'Team Spirit', the Laing employee newsletter.
