St. Mary's Church, West Brompton, [London], Consecrated on Tuesday, 1850. 'This Church was consecrated...by the Right Reverend Charles James, Lord Bishop of London. It is in the form of a cross, and is from the design of George Godwin, Esq., F.R.S...The walls are of stone; the chancel is paved with Minton's tiles...The Church contains accommodation for 750 persons; the district, however, has, we believe, nearly 4000 inhabitants. The ceremonial of consecration was conducted with the usual observances, a large attendance of the clergy of the neighbouring districts assisting on the occasion; and the Church was filled to overflowing'.
