Search for Sir John Franklin's expedition, '...the Cape, with the American brig Advance nearly among icebergs aground, and the Prince Albert to the right'. Commander Forsyth '...found marks of five tents having been pitched...several bones (beef, pork, &c.)...placing it almost beyond a doubt...that they were left on that spot by the expedition under Sir John Franklin...Forsyth's voyage...will be handed down...as one of the most remarkable, if not the most remarkable that has ever been accomplished in the Arctic...the expedition consisting of one solitary vessel, the Prince Albert, of 89 tons! The main object of the voyage, it is true, has not been accomplished...all the harbours in Prince Regent's Inlet were frozen up, and it was not possible to cut through four or five miles of ice...'.
