Scene at the Grand Review at Versailles, 1850. Military review in France, held near St. Cyr, and involving French and British troops. Present were the French president, Lord Normanby the British Ambassador to France, and Jung Bahadur Rana the Nepalese Ambassador to the United Kingdom. 'The troops stood at ease, the cavalry dismounted, and generals, lieutenants, sergeants, and corporals were entertained by the President [Louis-Napoleon Bonaparte] with a cold collation, consisting of fowls, champagne, &c. Our Artist has pourtrayed the President and Lord Normanby partaking of champange, and the Nepaulese visitors looking on'. From "Illustrated London News", 1850.
