Oltenitza, from Turtukai - from an original drawing, 1854. Crimean War. Ottoman field marshal and governor Omar Pasha supervises artillery and equipment being loaded on to ships. The towns of Oltenita and Tutrakan in Romania are on opposite sides of the River Danube. 'Illustration...from a coloured drawing made by Major Dixon, from whom it was obligingly brought by the Earl of Carlisle as a present to Lord Dudley Coutts Stuart, M.P.; who has kindly placed this interesting picture at our disposal.
