Légende
Marble statue of the late Sir Robert Peel (Noble, sculptor), recently placed in St. George's Hall, Liverpool, 1854. 'This fine statue, from the chisel of Mr. Noble, of Bruton-street, has been executed by public subscription in Liverpool, and has recently been placed in St. George's Hall. The statue is of white Carrara marble, six feet six inches in height. The dress is modern, the sculptor having judiciously eschewed the anomalous custom of robing English worthies in Roman costume. The attitude of the statue is dignified and easy; and it is at the same time a highly-finished work of art, and a successful portrait of the lamented statesman'. From "Illustrated London News", 1854.
