L'hommage du Sénat florentin au grand duc Ferdinand II, c.1621. Homage of the Florentine Senate to Grand Duke Ferdinand II. Ferdinando II is seated on a throne with black draperies, flanked by his mother Maria Maddalena of Austria, and Christina of Lorraine, his grandmother. Allegorical figures of the River Arno on the left, and Tuscany, on the right. Ferdinando was only 10 years of age when his father Cosimo II died. Because he had not yet reached maturity, his mother and paternal grandmother acted as joint regents
