Mermaid Street, Rye, Rother, East Sussex, 1905. A view looking up Mermaid Street from outside the Mermaid Inn, showing people walking up the hill and a horse-drawn cart coming down. The photographs appears to show the Mermaid Inn before it was later restored. The first floor is tile hung and the ground floor is brick beneath the jettied first floor. The tiles have subsequently been removed to expose timbers and timber framing replaced on the ground floor.
