Song written by African-American conductor, arranger, composer, and pianist James Tim Brymn. White singer Cushman was known for his impersonations of old black men. From a collection of sheet music, some examples of which depict African Americans in a derogatory way. Other examples are songs by white musicians purporting to be black.
