Bill of sale for John, 16 yr old boy for $400, 1821. 'For and in consideration of the sum of Four Hundred Dollars by David [Sayre?] to me in hand paid, I have sold to the said Sayre, a negro boy, named Johnm aged about sixteen years, which boy I warrant to be a slave for life, sound and healthy, and hereby warrant the title to the said Sayre, against the claim of all and every person or persons whatever. Witness my hand and seal at Lexington [Kentucky?], this sixteenth day of January 1821. Witness Philip Taylor Mildred Bradley [Purcell?] Bishop, Adm. of P. Brady dec[ease]d.'.
