Légende
Statue of Lord Mansfield, by E. H. Bailery, R.A., 1856. Rebuilding of the Houses of Parliament in London. One of the statues '...with which St. Stephen's Hall is being gradually ornamented...The effect of this statue is quiet, and may please many. To our mind it is not the happiest effort of this well-known able sculptor. There is, however, much that is good in the work, and it will, from the character of the costume, vary these series agreeably'. William Murray, 1st Earl of Mansfield, was a British barrister, politician and judge noted for his reform of English law. He was Chancellor of the Exchequer om 1757. From "Illustrated London News", 1856.
