View of Cittaducale, c.1810-c.1812. Cittaducale lies northeast of Rome, approximately level with Viterbo, but more to the east. This is one of Knip’s most atmospheric drawings. He evidently drew the town just after dawn; the early morning mist still lies low amid the mountains.
