The Arminian Serpent, 1710-1720. Snake with severed head bearing the portrait of Oldenbarnevelt. On the body of the snake 13 circles with portraits of the conspirators against Prince Maurits, arrested and convicted in 1623. The tail of the snake forms a hand with a birch (bundle of sticks). On the left a siren near the broken Arminian tree. On the right the radiant orange tree with the virtues Faith and Justice. In the background a gallows field on the left.
