The Battle at Stångebro, 1598, (1889). Proposed decoration for the walls in the Lower Hall of the Nationalmuseum, Stockholm, Sweden. The Battle of Stångebro, also known as the Battle of Linköping, took place at Linköping, Sweden, on 25 September 1598. It effectively ended the union between Sweden and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, that had existed since 1592.
