Damascus '...is one of the most beautiful and striking prospects in the world, and, gazing from this point upon the splendid city enwrapped in its verdant robe, we can appreciate the feelings of the prophet, who, as he turned from its fascinations to seek the parched sands and burning rocks of his native Arabia, pronounced Damascus to be "too delicious" for man's abode.
