The British brigade marching into the Largo St. Francesco di Paola, Naples - from a sketch by our special artist, Frank Vizetelly, 1860. British soldiers fight for Garibaldi in Italy. 'The reception of these volunteers was most enthusiastic. Bouquets were showered on them from all sides, and, being caught by the soldiers, were placed by them on the points of their bayonets...First in order of the long array comes procession after procession of National Guards with flags of the populace shouting 'Viva Inghilterra!' 'Viva gli Inglesi!' and we take off our hats; of crowds headed by young women with banners over their shoulders, and flowers and evergreens...the English - honoured name - were the great centre of interest...They all move on in front of the King's Palace, and then circle round the Great Square, amid the shouts of tens of thousands of the people'. From "Illustrated London News", 1860.
