Crow Butte Near Ft Robinson, Neb and FE & MV RR -- In battle, the Indians drove the "Crows" up on the mountain and camped on the only approach, intending to kill or starve their enemy The "Crows" killed and skinned one of their ponies The hide was made into ropes and used in lowering their ponies and people from opposite side of mountain The oldest of their number was left to keep up camp fires to deceive their enemy; after three days the old man came down and surrendered and informed them of his tribe's escape They gave him his liberty for bravery and loyalty to his tribe, 1891.
