Légende
The Faid Gihaad, yacht of the Viceroy of Egypt, 1862. '...a paddle-steamer of the most elegant and costly build, her exterior decorations being white and gold...she is the largest steamer which ever attempted to come up [the River Thames] to Woolwich. The deck, being a "flush deck", forms an uninterrupted promenade of 383ft., the vessel having been lengthened 69ft. by Messrs. Forrester of Liverpool...The quarter-deck is covered with rich floorcloth, and is screened from the sun and rain by a white canvas awning...the Egyptian emblem, the crescent, is introduced throughout the embellishments of the whole of the furniture and arrangements of the ship'.
