A Village Wedding-train, by Nicholas Swertchkof, in the International Exhibition, 1862. Engraving of a painting. 'Everything bearing the name of characterised as Russian should at the present time be of interest, not only as belonging to our late and not unworthy enemies, though now, and we hope long to remain, our fast friends, but as relating to a people among whom one of the most remarkable revolutions recorded in history is taking place - a revolution which, though hitherto comparatively silent, threatens imminently, according to the best informed, to burst in to the most terrible social convulsions'. From "Illustrated London News", 1862.
