The International Exhibition: stereoscope by Mr. Emanuel, of Brook-street, 1862. 'Ivory is one of the most beautiful objects that can be used in ornamental work, and its admirable properties have been appreciated from time immemorial...It is questionable, however, whether the great beauty of the ivory will last. It has a tendency to blanch and to turn yellow; but in its present state, new from the workman's hands, it is certainly very charming. Amongst the larger ornaments produced by this jeweller we engrave a stereoscope mounted in ivory, which is profusely decorated with an ornamentation of gold set with jewels. The variety of coloured stones, with their gold settings, produces a very gorgeous effect, and especially fits it for the possession of the Eastern potentate for whom it is, we believe, destined. The design is at once curious and novel, and the object very naturally attracts a great number of people as they pass Mr. Emanuel's trophy'. From "Illustrated London News", 1862.
